Opened in HK. P&P and slow-oxed for a short while before serving.
Unfortunately, this bottle was slightly off - probably a little bit of heat damage. The nose was more advanced than it should have been - not quite tired, but smelled more like an Amarone than a Masseto at this age. Very slight hints of vinegar, though it was in the background.
I still had two glasses of this, and it was still enjoyable, but it's just a shame that it wasn't fully on point. Apparently the provenance was from a case purchased through Zachy's, and more than one of the bottles had issues... shame.

Lightly corked. Two days later, fully resolved, TCA present but not as notable, beautifully smooth, elegant, ripe with structure. Should be 94+ points if in better condition.

94-95: well, this wine is stunning. Still vibrant in the glass, little sign of bricking. Nose is big, earthy, hints of sweetness, but the palate was definitely on the lean side. Acid and tannins still strong - dare I say at 20 this wine is still young? Finish lingered. Extremely impressive, but definitely on the Old World side. Cellar kept since purchase.

Great wine. Can’t help but compare it to the 2010 that really did wow me. prefer that over this but ultimately lovely stuff.

Absolutely unbelievable after a 1 hour decant. Ripe deep glorious with beautiful fresh acids and saline tang. Huge long and perfect.
