Good looking bottle, low neck fill, brick red appearance starting to brown at the core. Old wine dankness blows off to reveal an earthy, dusty bouquet of dried cherry intensity, sous bois, and tobacco. Medium bodied, completely resolved, with ample cut, and savory, tea-like flavors that toggle between dried black and red fruit and tertiary finesse. Finishes with dried herbs and spiciness. Very enjoyable but I bet this was phenomenal in its prime.

The cork was very clean but broke 3/4 of the way down so be careful opening. Once we successfully extracted the cork, we had a wine that still showed nice color with mature aromas. Tight at first, it eventually opened up to be quite enjoyable. A lot of sediment in this, so be sure to decant carefully. Drank to celebrate my son's 29th birthday.

Nice nose...somewhat Bordeaux-like with tobacco and earth smells. The wine was drying out on the back palate but still fine to drink. Had this along with a '97 Marcassin, '75 Latour, and '99 Hartwell at Seagars in Destin with wife and friends. The Latour was in a whole other world. It well out classed the competition and proved great bordeauxs can age well.
