  • Grapescott's note is very on point for me. My experience was more Beaune-like with black raspberry fruit, but the Burgundian savouriness, minerality, and tannic structure were sublime. Excellent acid balance. There was something still rather primary about this bottle, even if the structure showed the benefit of age. I'd give this another two years.

  • Very Burgundian nose with raspberries, forest floor and a Vosne-like spice. A bit of stemminess, juicy acidity, moderate dry tannins. The palate shows some orange peel, red berries, baking spice, pomegranate. Given how Rivers-Marie pinots from this vineyard have received such rave reviews, I can see that potential in this wine.

  • Pop and pour and followed for about 4 hours, with and without food. (The food was grilled pork chops, roasted new potatoes and green beans, in case you were wondering.)
Nose shows a fresh hops buds element - pine sap and herbal. Some dark fruits as well.
Bright acidity with a tangerine peel element and lurking underneath is a deep dark cherry fruit note. The acidity is keeping the dark fruit in the background, suggesting to me to age this one a few more years to allow that fruit to percolate up to the foreground. Still, a good wine with depth of flavor and layers of flavor. Delicious.
What a difference a day makes...twenty four little hours. I had saved about 1/2 of the bottle poured into a 375ml bottle, recorked and refrigerated. Opened the following evening. The dark fruits awake. Wonderful flacvora of ripe blackberries, cherries and a floral note. The acidity is still there so that the wine is nicely balanced between acidty and sweet ripe fruit. So invitIng.
