As this vintage has aged, I would say, if anything, the Cab Franc has gotten more pronounced. For me personally, I am not a fan of wines that are solely Cab Franc, though, clearly, they are popular. Hence, my opinion of the 2014 is biased. We opened up four hours before we actually served the wine. It is an extremely big and bold wine, especially for a Right Bank. It certainly became more drinkable after a couple hours, but did not really change from the second to fourth hour, so I served it. The guests started pouring it just before but primarily during dinner, so it was served with food. And the bottle was promptly finished. The wine is quite drinkable. But I did not hear anyone compliment the wine.

Deep, rich, and balanced. Still mostly black fruits with the red fruits trying to emerge. I would put this in “mid development”. Still looking for equilibrium, but the ingredients are there. Love the intensity, evolving complexity, great balance, and long finish. Lots of life here, at eight plus years, this has plenty of time left. Decant and enjoy with hearty food. Drink through 2030.

Decanted, I believe 3 hours by our host DQ....dark garnet in the glass. Slight sweet, almost chlorophyl like note on the nose. I thought for a moment it may be slightly corked but it wasn't. Palate of slightly redder fruit than the '13 we had along side it. This '14 also very well integrated and smooth. Both very good bottles but I seemed to prefer the '13 by a point or two overall. This one also probably near its peak and should also hold there for a few more years.
Deer Valley Palooza in 3 stages with Mark1npt and Agelvis; 6/25/2023-7/1/2023 (8,100 ft): Just a touch better than my last bottle 2 years ago, although not sure this has so much more room to improve. Decanted for two hours. The nose was lovely and open from Pnp. The palate was initially tart but with time in glass the red fruit became sweeter. This was nicely integrated and enjoyable but not exciting. I preferred the ‘13 wchi b had a bit more freshness to it.

Bought 3 from LB in Mar 2018 and kept in my cellar until now. PnP and gave it half an hour to calm down in the glass. Nothing to add to the spot-on comments from slulkin and johnmc, although I do find the alcohol level agreeable. I'll just add that I too wish I had more, and I plan to open my last 2 over the next 2 years - if I my self-discipline holds out.
