Single puece cork, no sign of seepage Excellent fill level
Dark ruby Slight barnyard aroma upon opening, recalling chateauneuf and other southern rhone wines. Blows off, and lots of red berries on the nose. Palate is structured and full, flavours follow through. Long finish. Nice blend. Shiraz 74% Grenache 18% Cinsault 6% Tinta barocca remainder
Drink or hold, just into secondary development. 13.5% abv

Hour and a half decant, the syrah in this leads the way in the nose with the scent of iron, raspberry and cherry. The palate is much the same as the nose and adds a hint of tartness. Interesting that there is no pepper element to this, the grenache does bring this to bear here for some reason. A well balanced wine with a full mouthfeel and a longer finish, this is my favorite rhone blend from South Africa to date.

Bouquet led by earth aromas with flashes of black fruit. Serious black pepper accompanied by dark cherry on the palate are confronted by solid tannins but carry on through the spicy finish. Very good South African Rhone blend whose style doesn't completely deviate from the Old World counterpart.

Stanleys Restaurant, Dublin, "Natural Wine Tasting South Africa" (Stanleys, Dublin, Ireland): (Tasted Blind): 73 Shiraz, Mourvèdre, Cinsault, Grenache. Touch of Tinta Barocca. A mid to deep red-black hue; intense aromas with savoury notes interwoven with fresh, ripe dark fruits. A rich entry with plenty of fruit underpinned by a chalky texture that lends grip and penetration. A lovely weight complemented by an appealingly chalky minerality the wine has an extraordinary length.

Wonderfully eclectic, needs a bit more time resting to shave off the sharp edges, especially the acidity. A very engaging wine.
