(Copinet Champagne Brut Blanc de Blancs Cuvee M. Leonard) Hello friends. When you love sparkling wine as much as Team Full Pull, you end up sampling a lot of different producers’ juice. One of our favorite producers is a French champagne house called Copinet. This small-but-mighty house might have been totally unknown to us, but fortunately, Copinet’s national importer is based in Seattle, so we always get access to the gems of this lineup. Over the years, our team has come to truly love Copinet. Many of these bottles have marked important moments for all of us—from promotions, to celebrations, to weddings. Nick Peyton, our resident Thursday night wine pourer, shared a Magnum of vintage 2006 Copinet at his wedding. Recently, Nick got to spend the day at Copinet’s operation in France and gave us a little view into the visit: “Copinet was amazing. Copinet's new tasting facility, opened 8 months ago, it is in a tiny, quiet, village called Villenauxe-la-Grande, southwest of the bustle of Champagne road. We arrived on a hot day in June. Alex (the winemaker) was watering the plants when we arrived in our tiny rental car. They were in the middle of disgorging when we toured the facility. Marie is the owner of Copinet—she is proud of her wines and generous of her time. We had shared with them a photo of the 2006 Magnum we had during our wedding and they kindly opened a 2006 during our tasting, along with another half dozen champagnes. [Marie] shared that most of their champagnes are exported around the world, with about 40% kept in France. She also shared that they are committed to "green" growing practices and support two bee hives that help with the local agriculture. If you are nice enough during your visit, Marie might share a jar of Copinet honey. “ Today, we are reoffering the 2006 vintage that Nick and his wife shared at their wedding—now over a decade old, and drinking more beautifully than ever.See key for # of bottles currently available.
