This is quite a nice light wine, but it needs 30 minutes of air. Initially the nose is a bit closed and the palate heavy on tannins. But after some air the nose develops into a rather nice mix of slightly sweet red fruit and a little minerality. The palate then follows the nose, still with quite prominent tannin and quite delicate. This is a wine that needs some slightly rich but not strongly flavoured/spiced food.
Comparing to the 2018 (qv) I prefer the younger wine with more prominent fruit. But both are interesting at ~US$19.

Surprised at the poor reviews. This one is quite nice to my taste. Was a great match for our Sicilian Tuna Steaks in Spicy Sauce. Lighter body, but tasty fruits with a nice glycerin-y texture. Guests loved it too. Good stuff.

Consistent with most of the other CT notes: totally uninspiring. Seems to be a miss in 2016 for this Benanti bottling. Just straightforward grape juice lacking personality and complexity. Even at this level, expected more.

Home dining at Plantation Garden: Probably corked from the cupboard smell but others didn’t seem to mind it. Was difficult to smell from the surroundings I suppose. Rather high acid, thin on fruit anyway.

Liked this one quite a bit. Light bodied, great bottle. Decent level of intruige in this one. Buy again for sure if the price is right
