For an “off” vintage, this was a lovely and well made wine. Great balance to the wine with integrated tannins and balanced dark fruit layers through the wine. I have one more in the cellar and anticipate it will continue to age well over the next several years.

Trying to clean up these ‘17’s so this was a late lineup after the Valentine’s Day champagne. Appropriately so, as this was fruity and chocolatey and felt like a treat. Reminded me that I haven’t had a Dr C in awhile and there is a reason I used to splurge for these. As for the vintage, most of the 17s I have seem to have improved over time and lost that manipulated feeling. They are big and bright and somewhat hedonistic and that’s ok for the right occasion.

Pulled this cork with a Beef Wellington and Hasselback Potato Gratin. This wine could age a decade, but it does not need to. I decanted for about one hour and was delighted at the results. The wine is interestingly soft on the palate for a Cali Cab, meaty overtones, with mineral finish.

I can’t say that I loved this as much as the bottle I had last year, but it was still a very nice wine. Lots of red and blue fruit, long finish, with a hint of rubber tire.

Agree with others sentiments on this one right now. A good wine but far below other vintages of the same.
