PnP. Color is dark ruby in center w/slight bricking. Nose is pungent and funky, almost port-ish. Oxidized? Might blow off.
Fruit is dark cherry. Fine grain tannins with good grip. Low/med acid. Set aside to decant until dinner.
After 1.5 hrs in decanter, Fruit is definitely full and lush. Dark cherry/blackberry. Bit of spice on the end which is hard to place (not pepper), reminds me of Hungarian oak toast. Went much better with food and was a great pairing with dinner (BBQ chicken with sage, oregano, and worchester; roasted golden beets, and smashed yams).
Go ahead and open this one. Don't think that time will improve this much as the acid seems to be fading and the nose is getting muted.

Vastly superior to the 2003 (which I also purchased at the same time). The 2003 was nice, but this is excellent. I love the dark tones, and the richness of it.

Chocolate, pepper, blackberries, and a distant funk that reminds you of rhone on the nose. Berries and smooth tannin with a finish of spicy oak. Still my most favorite wine from TO. A great example of balancing the old world and new in a wine that is affordable to all. It is a lot of fun to consume and got better over the 2 days I drank it.
