Mellow mixed red fruits with an earthy, woodsy overlay. Decent, but probably not getting any better. By the second glass, it becomes a little one-dimensional.

Disappointed by Andrew's 2006 Kanzer, I decided to open the 2006 Keefer for sake of comparison. I let it sit for about 30 minutes, swirling occasionally. The wine was brighter and fresher than the Kanzler, displaying notes of candied orange peel, rhubarb, strawberries, raspberries, and a hint what I can only describe as cheddar cheese. The finish did seem a little bitter, however, and had overtones of cherry cough drops. The acid also seemed a bit too intense. But a much more enjoyable wine than his other one from RRV.

Day 2 notes. Deep garnet color with a hint of brick. Nose presents plum, cherry, hint of musk. The fruit becomes more pronounced on the palate with strawberry and cherry being foremost followed by layers of berries, hint of vanilla and a wee bit of aged terroir. It's mature, very drinkable with a nice old world character coming through. Lengthy finish that concludes a little bitter.

Good color and fragrant nose, a bit stringent on the finish but mellowed over time.
