Clearanced for $5 at my local grocer - and I left it in the cellar and forgot about it for almost a year. Albeit simple, it is a pleasant drinking wine. dark berries & raspberries. Short finish, a bit oaky, but not tannic or hot. Chilled to 60F and enjoyed it with a great QPR!

Beringer Vineyards is one of the oldest continuously operated wineries in the Napa Valley, established in 1876. That was the year the telephone was invented. Little fun fact for you. Laurie Hook is the current wine maker alongside Ed Sbragia. Their 2005 Beringer Syrah is labeled "Third Century". A tribute to how old Beringer Vineyards is. There's a nice deep purple color to this 2005 Syrah. I get aromas of Blackberries, Blueberries, and Dust with hints of Spicebox and Pepper. It's a little hot, there is some heat coming through on the nose. 13.9% alcohol. Flavors of Blueberries and Wet Rock. Sour Cherry on the finish. There is no structure. The tannins and acidity are both lacking. Very hollow on the mid-palate and the finish is short. http://www.beringer.com/

Found this on the Publix clearance rack for $9.00. Cherry/currant/alcohol aroma, medium ruby color, ripe berry flavors, but kind of a hollow mid-palate, finish is short and a bit hot.
