Medium red color. Aromas of black cherries, underbrush and spices. Ripe, but very compact fruit in the mouth with very good structure and depth, excellent acidity and ripe, well-integrated tannins. After about 30 minutes the wine opened up and became more sauve and longer in the mouth. A pretty good value for a very well-made red Burgundy. Try again in 2-3 years.

Très Nuits, a lovely wine with a touch of (very acceptable) bitterness that a Nuits can have. The colour is only (why not) middle deep and the bouquet terrific in its purity, nearly perfumed. A balanced and lively midtaste with a bite and a polished aftertaste. Alas, last bottle.

Slight reduction on the nose. Beyond the reduction are dark cherries and cramberries as well as some birchbeer and molassas. On the palate, bright red fruits are apparent; round full flavors with surprising amounts of sap. A solid 2004 with no sense of herbaciiousness or greenness. The only nit is that this wine does not speak at all of its terroir, a common denominator among these modern style burgundies.

Very masculine and similar to the 5/17/2012 bottle.

Simply fantastic wine. Great complexity, well balanced and controlled acidity. Too bad he does no longer make this one
