Decanted one hour. Not at all over the hill, contrary to some other notes. But a bit stolid, albeit with some good mid-palate fruit and earth flavors. Good drinking now, rustic, still some oak, some light tannin. A good complement to a steak. I wouldn’t hold this a lot longer but fine now.

Dull and tired at the start. At this stage what dominated was sweetness against a thin and dull background. But the next day the remaining half bottle was delicious. Sweet and very mature fruit, but still with some acidity to hold it up, and soft tannins giving good length. Almost too late, but not quite. vg

Random wine ark boys supper (Banksia, Sydney): tending to balsamic, red berries, leather, sweet spice and still with a perfumed top note. Meaty. It's juicy with sweet spice and muted berry. Hmm.
