Fresh nose ripe red fruits and tilled earth. Ripe plum, toasted marshmallow followed by cocoa nib (not quite a s’more) with a little bite from the unpolished tannins make his seem very new-worldly compared to its heritage. Not that it is bad, but very enjoyable with the Merlot characteristics showing. Towards the end it falls a little flat, but not flabby. Upon opening, it finished dry, but with some air and time, it smoothed out. Good stuff for the price, and has aging potential to round out the tannins a bit. This is enough for the casual week night meal, when you are seeking something different than California style wine, and want to change it up a bit. Going to buy more to keep for a little bit, but drinks great now.

Notes from second day. I'm kind of with Ponuppy on this. The fruit is fairly ripe and forward (especially on day one), so it didn't strike me as classic Bordeaux. But it has better balance on day two and the ripe fruit has receded some. There's some nice cassis and underlying herbal notes. It has good structure and is attractively priced at $15, but while I'm tempted to buy a couple of bottles and leave them for a couple of years, I'm also wondering if there'll be that much of a reward on cellaring.

If you buy this wine expecting a classic BDX profile, you'll be massively disappointed. This is fruit forward and extracted, but generally well made. Honestly, it comes across like CA zin. Dark blue/purple fruit. A hint of spice and scorched earth. Medium tannins and acid. It's actually a fairly nice wine, especially at $15, but isn't classic BDX.

Complex, rich, very enjoyable. Notes of currant, and more. Probably would age well,so will lay down a few bottles

Excellent value. A little rough around the edges, but nicely structured and would probably be in balance after another year in the bottle.
