  • Darker yellow; rich, expressive, super toasty and yeasty; fuller bodied than the Lanson 2000 but not as clean. Finish was slightly bitter, maybe just a little over toasty for my taste but still very nice. EWG Bacari Silverlake

  • Darker gold; very aromatic, lots of yeast, nuts, barrel age, and maybe redux. In great shape, lots of character. Super cool, yeasty, but a bit much, esp. with sushi. Still, tons of character, enjoyed very much wedged in between the Cristal and Clos Cazals. Asanebo w/Yarom and gang.

  • Found this bottle in cold storage among some spirits. It goes back to a Y2K Hotel Gala event left in my room and totally misplaced. - planned and opened this tonight not sure if it still had gusto. Delicious fruit , still having the sparkle and the traditional nutty and honey comfortable muskiness. A WOW!

  • Out of maybe 25-30 aged Champagnes I've tasted in the past 10 years - admittedly not so many, and many more pricey - this one was no question the best. I think this can be attributed to this wine being in the perfect place. It was fully developed, golden and tertiary and well-sherried, also showing ripe fruit, all kept in line by an austere mineral backbone. The pro reviews said this one might blossom and boy did it ever. YMMV - maybe my bottle just dodged all the hazards that can happen along the way. But it easily topped many Dom's and Krug's and others down the ladder from there. Complex in the way that makes you want to slow down over a glass and sniff for an hour, but also so swig-able the bottle dissappeared pretty quickly.

(Piper-Heidsieck Champagne Brut) This yellow-gold Champagne has bright, vivid aromas of mandarin orange, tangerine, Asian pear, honey, apple pie, and cinnamon. It is medium-bodied with bright fruit on the palate as well—apple, pear, and orange—and a clean, fresh finish. The Shifting Landscape of Champagne
