Tasting (Coravin Pour) 03/08/24 - initial taste was high tannins and acidity - complex structure with strong black fruits - blackberry, plum, blueberries - clear deep purple - nice pleasant aroma - wine has strong legs when swirled - tannins are still strong after 12 years - earthy notes of tobacco, oak, - dry - high level of dryness - finish is medium
Wine opens up in the glass even more after 10-15 mins and the high acidity becomes less evident - more like medium acidity after opening up

Nothing notable. At or beyond prime. Simple, one dimensional, typically muddy flavored Merlot from north shore of Gironde in Bordeaux. Not complementary with various meats and cheeses. Best with sweet foods (e.g Bourbon flavored chicken), and especially sweet dessert (e.g. Angel food cake with chocolate sauce). Not a fan of Merlot, so one reason this wine did not appeal. From Costco as part of 4 Bordeaux box set, as gift.

Nothing special here. Best when accompanied by food.

Mostly harsh and uninviting, with a few hints of Bordeaux coming through occasionally.
