Extremely biting on day 1. Was almost Pinot-like in color, but very tannic and spicy on the finish. On day 2, this calmed down significantly and was quite enjoyable. Strawberry and blackberry on the nose. Can likely hold this a few more years before climbing in.

more a Pinot noir ruby red, some transparency. Lovely complex nose that changes in the glass: first some raspberry, almost cassis, then black tea and cigar, blackberry, cola. Not the most powerful of Cab francs, but very elegant on the palate, seems close to peak, though won't decline for another few years. Well integrated tannins, still some acidity, and long dark finish, without being overwhelming. [Initial opening: a little tight, dusty, but cleared up. Notes from second night, after vac-u-vin and refrigerator:]

Ended up having to decant this for a couple hours. Nose was fairly hot, with lots of green pepper and blueberry. Flavors seem slightly stewed, so I'm not sure if this is showing at it's best. Seems slightly oxidized, but the cork, while discolored halfway up, didn't look to have suffered a breach. I think maybe this didn't survive as well as I had hoped in my cellar.

P&P. Really nice dark red fruit...plum with green pepper, cracked peppercorn, and a touch of espresso. Drink now - 2025+.
