One hour double decant. Deep rosy ruby color. Raspberry, orange rind, soapy florals, mushroom, and subtle ginger cookie on the nose. Smooth, dry, slightly tart palate, with soft, but persistent acidity. Firm, lower intensity tannins on the medium long finish.
Medium-deep ruby color. Nose featuring raspberries. Light body, medium-to-medium-plus acid, velvety tannins. On the palate: red cherries, blood orange, and raspberries. Lacking a bit in depth.

Great bouquet. Definitely tastes and smells like lime stone soil. I can see how you might blind this as Burgundy with only 1 or 2 sips. Great complexity and spice, and the fruit + acid balance out the tannin nicely. Very spicy finish. Almost like Angostura bitters - love it. I'm torn on this wine because it has a lot going for it, but ultimately the alcohol tastes a little high with respect to everything else. It overwhelms the elegance. At 14% it's not extraordinarily high, but slightly out of balance in my opinion, and I would have guessed 14.5 or 15%. It is almost Barolo like the longer it opens up. I don't know much about Rheingauh vintages, but I would guess this was a hot one. I could see myself loving this wine in a cooler vintage. It is obviously well made, and pairs great with the goat cheese beat ravioli that I had for dinner!
Received this as a part of my Collective Tasting Membership through Antica Terra. Really cool wines - I'm excited to keep diving in!

Very interesting bottle - ‘Racy’ acidity for sure. Light cherry, some pith, earth and that acidity.
