  • Bottles from the Yalumba museum cellar. I’ve been fortunate enough to have had this legendary wine several times, but not for a long time. It is still powering on, with the purest core of intense cassis fruit. It has some tar and bitter chocolate and purple flower notes. It is supple and succulent, deep and long. Acid balance is perfect, and it is such a vital wine.

  • Every time I get lucky to drink this wine, it is a revelation. Complexity, layers, length paired with elegance, meatiness and wonderful fruity bouquet.

    Amazing wine.

  • Pulled out my finest glassware for this legend.
Color is an immensely dark burgundy, with a slight browning around the outer edges. Cork was 70%saturated but in great shape . Bouquet of sweet, jasmine and white flowers to start off with fairy strange but wonderful. As the wine opened up in the glass it took on more of a rustic aromas (mushrooms, underbrush, leather) along with sweet dark fruit. The attack is dramatic to say the least but not overwhelming. Palate is dark deep & rich, the mature fruit is still showing. Tannins are fine and mouthfeel is delicately present. Perfectly balanced with a fine smooth finish that is lengthy. This bottle was in excellent condition considering it had 3 prior owners that I’m aware.
My first 100 point rating and it deserves it! Gorgeous wine!!!

  • 50th Birthday Tasting (Vesterbro): Youthful and refined black current fruit with completely refined tannins. There is lots of complexity with dried spices, pencil shavings and minerals and a stunning and persistent aftertaste.
It was served blind and I never got indication that this was Italian. Everything in the wine screams Bordeaux and in particular high-end Pauillac.
The bottle was in absolute perfect condition and we were lucky to get to try this wine from a perfect bottle.
It was an absolute pleasure to drink and experience this wine and it will always stand out as a legend.

  • 4th and final bottle from my cellar. One of the most perfect bottles of wine I have ever drank. Wish I had many more. Shared with friends during a special dinner. Hoping the 2015 vintage proves to be as special.
