This was part of a 'mystery case' from Invino. It was definitely past prime and very dry. It was a 'bigger' merlot with muted dark red fruit and a little bell pepper. I decanted this for almost 2 hours before drinking. I bet this was a wonderful wine in its prime.

P&P. Crystal garnet. Bit of american oak and red fruit on the nose. Just a nice light old world style wine. Bit dry, easy light fruit. Bit green. Some strawberry, licorice. Lingers. This is pretty unremarkable & simple. I am not sure this gets better w time. The fruit may not put last the tannins, oak & acids. Also, I see this as a much light wine than previous reviews. (87)
Day II. Left about half of this in the decanter overnite & was ready to toss it as it was not what I needed for a Friday night. Went in for a taste & man, a totally different wine. Weight, depth, rough & tumble tannins, chocolate, depth. Didn't get complex, just a really excellent Napa Merlot.

Decanted 2 hours. Solid still with notes of blackberry and perhaps anise.
