The first bottle that I had 2 years ago was outstanding, but this bottle that I’ve stored in near perfect conditions had deteriorated greatly and I’m glad it was finished tonight. A few more months might have rendered it totally unworthy of the miso-maple salmon we had tonight. The fish was way better than the wine this time!

Decanted but started to drink immediately. To the nose, forest, dark and red fruit, and slight oak/leather. On the palate, a mix of dark and red fruit (blackberry, red cherry and boysenberry, with black cherry joining on the second glass. Pepper and cinnamon for spices with a clear cola note. Medium mouthfeel and length for RRV PN. Tannins in thin laces barely providing structure. A balanced PN - not too much fruit forward. Paired well with Christmas ham and scalloped potatoes. Drink now.

Muted nose, but big, bold, very dark flavors for a pinot. Very pronounced spice component. Decent complexity. Medium finish. I don't know if I've ever tasted a darker, heartier pinot (no Hearty Burgundy remarks, please).

One of my all-time favorites. Gorgeous RRV red fruit.
