Zachys Fine & Rare Wines - Apr 2016 & an evening w/friends (Smith & Wollensky (48th & 3rd Ave)): What an absolute treat to try one of the first Phelps and very kind of Miles to bring! CT window is way off - this was still drinking well and such an interesting wine. Opened and decanted in the mid-morning and then drank over the course of 5 or 6 hours and each time I revisited it was a different wine. Initially more of the old aged leather, earthy version but with time I got hints of dried fruit and then with more time there was almost a bit of spice to it. Also a treat to try it next to an '85 Eisele Vineyard from Phelps.
