Another bottle 18 months later and wow, what a difference. This has really come into its own. Massive bouquet and a juicy, cherry-driven palate with excellent tannins. Many years ahead in the cellar.

Nice young Nebbiolo. Dark cherry, savoury flavours. Medium, lithe mouthfeel with good balancing acidity. As can be expected, the tannins are drying and robust. Will be interesting to see how this is in 10 years time. Does it have the goods to compete with a Barolo?

A very difficult wine to review, as it’s just completely closed and utterly unapproachable initially. Four days in a half bottle in the fridge and a review can be considered, albeit still challenging, as any wine loses its vibrancy after so much time. The nose carries herbs and sour cherry and some methylated spirits. Palate of sour cherries, bitter herbs, orange peel. A deceptive wine in that it is light bodied, but packs a powerful punch that smacks you in the face with concentrated amaro bitter flavours and mouth coating tannins. This thing could go two ways: it might be the best Nebbiolo made down this way for some time or an unreconciled disaster in 10 years. I have two bottles left to find out. Next one will be tried from 2025 onwards. Not possible to score it at this point in time.
