Surprisingly fresh, more so than the Beaucastel tasted a long side, quite light now, elegant with pronounced minerals, iron and a pretty red fruit. Fully mature - but not declining. #videopodcast#FrederiksHave

Opened with a crumbly cork, but that Grenache driven, barnyard nose was a signal that we were ok. Cloudy and bricking at the edges. First taste confirmed that fruit was well intact. Tart cherries dominating and tannins fully integrated. So much better than I expected. Paired up with some roast chicken, it really was enjoyable. Tart flavors receded, revealing more smoky, earth notes. If you sill have bottles, yank that cork and enjoy.

Unlike the 1998 Gardine CDP we had at the same time, this one seems to have faded. Mr. Tipton, who brought both wines, said this one tasted like "cherry liquor"...Jerry said a warm Gamay. Agree a bit with both.

Châteauneuf-du-Pape 1998 (Chez moi): Very similar to the last showing, this wine is surely a gem; the cool, elegant version of La Crau, and while lacking the majestic presence of Vieux Télégraphe, it is a very local and fine wine.

Expensive winos dinner at KH (Frederiksberg): Very light, almost transparent, certainly an aging wine now - but very elegant, indeed - it has sous bois, red berries, harmony, something else entirely than you would expect from this vineyard. Mature, drink, don't hold. Served vis a vis Marie Beurrier 1998... (At KH with the boys)
