  Saw this at a liquor store in Napili, adjacent to Miso Phat who has a BYO policy and I needed some Kirin Ichiban for my Sushi…The lonely bottle sat on the front counter with a post-it note stuck to it that said “Please Buy Me” and an orange clearance tag marked @ $13.99. I contemplated grabbing the bottle but didn’t. The next day, with non-buyer’s remorse, I dropped in and grabbed it.
  Popped & poured into a very sub-standard glass (think 6oz. 70’s wedding buffet stemware). Wow!
  Only after my 2nd glass did I look to see it was a 2017 and so, Wells was still at the helm. It reminded me of the first time i discovered his Pinots (& Syrahs) and coincidentally, with these very bottlings; I believe procured through Garagiste?..
  Herb-tinged, bright red fruits are prominent on the nose but carry into the entry, unfolding into mid level fruit but deftly intermingled with the slightly savory herbaceousness that I distinctly recall from these wines. Did I say WOW!?
  They had a couple additional bottles in store. TBD whether I head back & snatch them up. If I was home, it’d be a No-Brainer!
  Day 2: The nose has turned complex, with the fruit backing off a tad and yielding to the herbs de Provence. Though I still Love this wine, perhaps I was a bit generous with my score and so, dropped it a point. Probably still a 92 due to QPR, but in all fairness, it’s closer to a 90+

  Nicely balanced pinot that hits on all notes. Red fruit with earthiness and subtle smoke. Tastes best with an hour or two to breathe.

  A washed-out ruby red color with a pleasant nose of strawberries and raspberries. A glimpse of those tastes is quickly overwhelmed by old oak and damp moss followed by a bitter aftertaste. No mid-palate to speak of -- just a discordant blend of watered down fruit with overpowering oak.
