Ye Paulee (Hao Noodle): Heat affected, big shame given a similar situation with 99 Rouget CrosP earlier this week, but not as damaged. Good silkiness and weight on the palate, if even dimensional. Quite elegant showing its immediate friendliness to any taster. ~94

Echezeaux Extravaganza: Huge reduction on both nose and palate. I initially thought this was so reduced it could be flawed. Luckily a very experienced taster of these wines pointed out this is what young Jayer tastes like in hot vintages. This became evident when we got to the 1990 which had unmistakably similar characteristics lurking in a muted way in the background. There should be a great future for this wine.

Breathed for 3 hours before consumption alongside DRC Ech 99. Starting to develop secondary flavors, with ripe plummy fruit, red floral overtones, spices. Medium plus palate with decent stuffings and drive, medium finish with minerals. Glad to be able to try this alongside DRC Ech 99, but I do prefer DRC over this outrageously overpriced bottle.

Quite oaky at first but after 15 minutes in the glass the most wonderful perfume began to push the wood aside. There’s a real cool fruit character with plenty of Asian spice and a little beef stock. It is shapely and round in the mouth with terrific underlying structure.
