Good fruit on the nose with the dominate characteristics being a bit of plum and some pipe tobacco mixed with new leather. Flavors are quite smooth with soft tannins and medium body. The finish is not very long but still decent. This wine was an excellent match to pan seared lamb pops with a port reduction sauce served over polenta. At $19, this was a nice value wine find from the 2003 vintage and is ready for drinking now and could be enjoyed over the next five years.
