Solo project of ex-long time Cape Mentelle wine maker David Hohnen. Impressive start from the wines we have tried. Big ripe style that is tough to pick from the nose alone. Quite a complex job, big ripe cut pears and some oily apricots from the viognier. Oak helps impart a creamy mouthfeel and firms up the structure considerably. For mine close to a dead ringer for Mt Burrumboot's Marsanne Verdelho from Heathcote. A pretty, very well made wine. Shows class and complexity. drink over 2005 and 2006. ($24.00)
