V-Day at VGS: Less sweet than a lot of Ozzie syrah and far more so than most French, the 2018 VGS is a rich, ripe fruit bomb that will likely taste best with grilled meats or very dark chocolate. It may gain complexity in time, but I don't think it's built to last all the way through the decade.

One of the few Napa Syrahs that floats my boat.....this entry is so full of fruit, it's ridiculous! Yet it has the requisite gameyness, and savory qualities one looks for in this varietal. It's probably a 94 now but in 3-5 years, wow, this could be 3-4 points higher. Really juicy right now!
