This is good stuff. No decant, wined opened up in the glass quickly unfurling in the glass with black and red fruit of cherries, plums and mulberry with pipe tobacco, cedar and peppery notes. Palate is medium bodied with same rich black and dark fruit and some secondary development with smooth tannins and medium to long finish. Had it with ribeye and complemented it nicely

Tasted next to the rather angular 2011. A bit warmer on the nose, more red fruit, quite open. On the palate powerful, firmly structured with rounder tannins and more ripe fruit. Spicy, grippy with very good length. 91-92+

More notes later. Dinner in Cascais Portugal. Beautifully balanced wine drinking well now with no anticipation of aging much longer. While beautiful and balanced it is not an overly complex wine. Still very nice but not a great price point.

Very tight initially, but once it opened up it sings. Sweet, honeyed bouquet, v inviting. Complex web of warm raspberries, crushed black fruits (currants, plums), mint, polished tannins peppered w Asian spices and long long finish. Supreme breeding, posh and silky. Kaleidoscope of flavors are dancing in the mouth - v complex. Youthful and needs air but unmistakably an aristocrat. http://sgbordeaux.blogspot.com/2011/11/le-petit-cheval-2006.html
