9th and 10th of 12, decanted an hour, perfect cork and level, one super, the other tired, the better verging on an upgrade the other more like 90, these probably need drinking before they go over even if there's upside in better bottles. F (17.5).

8th of 12, splash decanted, perfect cork and level, as Feb 22 bottle, showing well with decent persistence and nuance, still quite fresh, probable downside from here as I've found Bosquet wines do not have longevity of Beaucastel or Rayas. F (17.5).

7th of 12, opened 90 minutes, perfect cork and level, less pepper more leather and garrigue, crunchy fruit still, little upside but no rush beyond usual caution re Bosquet wines' tendency to move from mature to decline quickly. F (17.5).

(Bosquet des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape Chante Le Merle Vieilles Vignes) Roasted berry and smoke nose; ripe cherry, kirsch and plum palate with layers; medium-plus finish
(Chante le Merle BOSQUET VV) Friday Special #2 Dear Friends, On one hand I’m complaining about scores and then on the other I’m quoting them in an offer - such is the nature of the human dilemma but this traditional wine is not only in the bottle but it sings effortlessly with wings of old-vine sap and Grenache lace that are more than compelling. Who says you need a preponderance of new oak to make a great Chateauneuf? Not me. We’ve been on a Rhone tear over the last week, the fruits of my last trip, and this is one of the cherries on the sundae. This wine keeps getting better and better and it should really blossom with another 4-6 years of cellaring. For a Vielles Vignes cuvee, it is extremely well priced: This parcel has impeccable provenance directly from the source VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for terrific value in contrast to other high-end CdP cuvees: 2004 Bosquet des Papes Chateauneuf du Pape Chante Le Merle V.V. Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Rhone3580
(Bosquet des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape Chante Le Merle Vieilles Vignes) Faint berry nose; tasty, a little tight, good sous bois fruit; medium finish 91+ pts. (70% Grenache, 10% Mourvedre, 10% Syrah, 5% Cinsault, 5% Vaccarese)
(Bosquet des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape Chante Le Merle Vieilles Vignes) Vanilla, cherry and framboise nose; good, light bodied cherry, pepper palate with good acidity, drinking well now and not likely to age well; medium finish
