eleven-vintage Ata Rangi vertical (K&L Redwood City): bright ruby in the glass. generous red and dark fruit in the nose along with an exotic mix of spices, earthy bramble, and subtle floral notes. a notable spicy vein runs thru the palate and the fruit flavours. good acidity and depth mid-palate. soft tannins and moderate length.
drinking very nicely, even it doesn’t seem as fully developed as its peers.
[abundant bud set required crop thinning early on. hot days and very cool nights made for larger diurnal swing and good tannin ripeness]

M+ ruby, brick hue, a little cloudy. Savoury flavours dominating, earth, whole bunch notes, black tea, sweet herbals, liquorice, a concentrated fruity core revealed in the end. smooth fine tannins, super harmony, that’s usual in burgundy, but not in new world. Robust and even still young feeling, amazing Ata Rangi.
finished it in three nights, not changed too much, robust, well aged, mature and at peak now.
Ap 5/5, Ar 13/15, Palate 17/20, Overall 5+4/10 Total 94/100

Perfect. Great bottle. Age is spot on for me, best Ata Rangi I have had.

Pleasant on the noise however it seemed to be lacking some fruit and finished very dry. Not sure if this was a bad bottle or the wine is over the hill
