Base neck fill. For a change, the parallel sides of this bottle's neck allowed for straightforward extraction of the cork, which was shockingly tiny for a wine meant for long aging. 12 hours in decanter, longer wouldn't have hurt. Medium-deep garnet color, flashes of bright ruby. Fresh but complex nose of cinnamin, clove, potpourri, dried fruits, sweet red berries, faint hints of sweet tobacco. Structure is largely gone, but there is purity and brightness of sweet berries and plums on the palate that is very appealing. Sweet fruit and tawny caramel linger through the clean finish. This may lack depth for many more years of improvement, but it is a charming and feminine Port, elegant as velvet, weightless but not thin, with a pleasant bite of spirit that is not harsh. Perhaps lacking backbone to stand up to food, but for sipping this is a beautiful bottle, not far from perfection.

A very good bottle. Lovely light strawberry directly after opening, filling out with a few hours of decanting with figs, milk chocolate and leather. Lovely long finish. Quite tertiary and certainly ready, but should hold for a long time.

FTLOP 12th Anniversary; 7/21/2017-7/23/2017 (Seattle, Washington): Amber-brown in color. Transparent with fine-grained sediment. A touch of clove and raspberry on the nose with some Woody notes underneath. Cola - all that's missing is the carbonation! Full-bodied, unctuous mid-palette with Cola and A touch of chocolate. Medium-long finish. 91

Floral (red flowers) on the nose with a touch of spirit.
Sharp (good acid) palate of raspberries and honey. Finishes quite tannic. A very elegant port (especially for the vintage) with quite a bit left in the tank, but will always be lighter in style.

Outstanding! Light color as typical of port this age, super smooth, finish goes on and on and on. Just a wonderful bottle of wine in every way.
