Nose took a long time and warmth to develop beyond a mineral and steely lemon. It eventually picked up spicy pear, confected lemons and oolong tea. A very good wine, but I argue that it struggled to achieve varietal typicity. Good acid and alcohol balance, good length. It could have used like 2g/l of residual sugar to bring out those flavors.

Straw color. Nose: candied lemon, fresh mixed melon, and pear fruit with accents of dried white flowers, honeysuckle, almond, Hawaiian bread, and an exotic and very distinct note of huitlacoche. Medium/full body on the palate: mixed melon, Asian pear, and lemon/lime fruit framed by dried white flowers, beeswax, almond, vanilla, and again the note of huitlacoche. Medium+ acidity. Some light apple/pear-skin tannins. Lingering beeswax, vanilla, and apple/pear skin on the long finish. Complex and unique wine. Very well balanced. Drink now.

Better on day two. Not as waxy and complex as other roussanne's we've had from WA and CA. While fine, would probably not buy again as there are better options.

Old bottle, but well balanced. Enough body to stand up to heavy meals. Mild on the nose.
