  • 1h decant. Nice plum, blackberry, cedar and cigar box, with soy, balsamic, currants and crushed stones on the mid-palate (and the secondary on the nose). Still has lively acidity with good tannins (softened but not quite velvety). Overall in a good place now, so drink up before this heads for the geriatric ward and limps into old age. Good value play for aged Bdx.

  • Still a deep ruby with some fading at the edges, a classic Bordeaux idiom from start to finish - cedar and smoke, currants and dried fruit on the nose. Earthy entry, with nice hints of licorice and soy, coffee and currants and red cherries across the palate. Tannins, while resolved provide the backbone, with a nice acid seam. Medium finish. There may be more fruit here, but enjoy now while you lay off the big vintages. Nice QPR. 89-90.

  • From a half bottle. Nice dark ruby-red with just the slightest orange paleness around the rim. Nice open aromas of black cherries, chocolate and red current. In the mouth, it is all about the fruit at this point. Ok, so it has tannins, but these are nice and round at this point. I would say that the fruit and general aromas (same as on the nose) are fading a little bit compared to the last bottle (in the case of half-bottles) and wouldn't keep it any longer. Also, it is so good at this point, no reason to wait! Drink up and enjoy!

  • This wine is at its peak. Beautiful ruby red color. The bouquet is mostly cherries with a little bit of chocolate. In the mouth, much the same with a fine attack and a round ripe mouth. A very good wine at peak now. Perhaps not the most complex, but wonderful at this stage - no point in aging longer. From a half bottle. One half bottle left to drink within the year. Between 89 and 90, but for the perfect ripeness, I'll go for 90.
