  • We poured a few small glasses. A tiny tiny bit of orange rim variation. Purple/garnet cloudy darkish. A little tiny bit of bretonamiosies, and or earthiness. Not especially tannic, acidic, but reasonably so. You don’t quite get a lot fruit, but you know there is enough there, it’s short lived because maybe it’s cloaked by the acid. We parked the wine for an hour and then we went back to it.
This time armed with a lot of sliced salami, the wine really came to life. Some how we were able to unlock much more fun pink fruit - strawberries and raspberries.
Drink now. This wine is not going to improve much.

  • Popped and poured. A foxy whiff blows off to reveal notes of black licorice and raisin on the nose. Lush mouthfeel, with flavors of licorice, roasted plum and milk chocolate tempered by ample acidity. There's a slight sanguine note to add depth. Can't decide if this was slightly cooked at some point or just past its prime, but it's still tasty.

  • Nice aroma, balanced from start to finish. Hints of cherry push through with a smoky cigar taste.

  • Meaty, smoky notes on the nose, perhaps a bit burnt around the edges. Better on the palate, with ripe, plummy fruit holding everything in balance. This would have been a little better a year ago. Picked this up from TW at a bargain price and so can't complain too muchl.

  • Dark blackish ruby red in appearance with a nose of red and black fruits. It is light to medium-bodied with balanced flavours of juicy dark fruits, some tobacco, and luscious oak with a noticeable impression of meat, dried sage and a nice earthy minerals towards the end. Overall, this is an easy drinking wine, pretty much straightforward but charming in its unique way. The downside for me is the middle portion - which is quite hollow and diluted, but then again, so was the finish.
