Cherry, dark fruit bouquet. Dark red. Fruit upfront, good balance, earthy, some smoke, Very concentrated for Merlot, with some power. It drinks well with a steak. Although lack of secondary favors, still a pleasant wine. Medium length finish.

Off the Beaten Path in Napa with Slava and Jimmy (Napa, CA): Red and dark fruits, some earth. Lots of dust on the midpalate. Not so strutured - dull? Some herby flavors, but in a good way. Not a bad value, but I'd choose the Engel Family for $10 more.

More of a typical merlot than we were hoping for. Still a bit tannic--might improve with some additional aging.
