  • temp controlled cellar since release - loads of fruit left, but pruny and over the top -

  • Rich, dark, and delicious. This is flirting with being overblown but not quite. Viscous currant and cherry fruit are paired with a ripe green stemmy element along with tobacco. Label lists 14% Cab. Franc. Lots of life left in this wine.

  • bought this in a two-pack with a bottle of the Carneros (also 2002), and they couldn't be farther apart. the Carneros was rich, dark, and almost creamy, while this came out of the bottle almost lean, but put on some weight with air to turn into a very elegant wine (albeit one with very noticeable oak). initially tart and sour, something was always out of balance (first acidity, then tannin, then oak, then tannin again somehow) over the 3-4 hours it decanted, right up until the very end where it pulled together into a really classy cab.

  • A nose of elegant dark fruit and spice, dark garnet in color. A special reserve Cab, with black currants, cherries, and layers of that well known Rutherford dusty spices, long finish, a great wine.

  • Enjoyed this wine a great deal. The fruit is humming with cassis dominate. Still tannin structure to age a decade or more. Wish I could taste the progress and pick up more secondary notes with more bottle age. I will search out more 02 Napa Valley wines because it seems to be a solid vintage.
