Smells wild. Like tart apple cider. Some light minerals and rocks present, but certainly the dominant play is the fermenting apples. Puckering and tart, like lava run through a pear orchard. Again, quite tart fruit, with minerals. A strange, light texture. More fermenting fruit on the finish, perhaps more of the pear. Interesting and tart, but not really all that tasty. I wish I was able to try this in previous vintages to see if this is an anomaly.

Drank over two nights. First night was tight and acidic but nice that it showed red fruit and minerality. Second night it was overly acidic for several hours but eventually showed some fruit.

I really enjoy this wine. It is extremely acidic but backed with a cherry fruit and smoky mineral flavor that really works with food. We had it this time with halibut (first fresh of the season) and a red wine/tomato sauce. But the acidity here makes this work with about anything, even raw cauliflower. Good value, great drink. But not something you would want to consume without food.

lovely with cooked tomatoes & pasta, but funky with fresh tomato salad
