Dinner at JPs: Absolutely singing. I thought it just entering that third stage of development which is where I really like my burgundy. Really nice spice, Voluptuous mouth feel and great length. True to terroir. joint WOTN.

This started off with some oak toast on nose, plus red cherries. On the palate is where this shone. Kept evolving & improving, with each phase moving onto new, greater heights; Just like an aeroplane taking off & climbing. Just great! I actually enjoyed this wine most amongst the entire lineup, but qualitatively, it was bested by the last wine of the night...

1990 Burgundies (NYC): Light red, some lightening on the rim. Expressive damp earth and barnyard on the nose. Good fruit attack, but only a medium finish. With time, it seemed a bit medicinal. Another sample from a different bottle showed slightly better.

It was drinking ok but lacked finesse and delineation. A little four square and somewhat extracted. Some 1990s just don’t do so well I find.

Deep purple in colour. Powerful black fruits expands in the glass into graceful secondary aromas. Long and balanced. Chewy.
