Well past prime. Faint, plummy nose. Soft fruit on palate, plums, cherries. Hot and harsh on the palate (15% ABV). Sour tannins, decent acidity, adequate balance. Finishes moderately long and sharp. Drink up but don't expect much.

A big, rich, full bodied Syrah with a little bit of a harsh edge and just a tad hot. Not as complex or refined as the 2007 Blair Fox Syrah Purisima Mountain Vineyard but still quite enjoyable. A little more air and a decant should help take the edge off. It also may just need a little bit more time in the bottle but should continue drinking nicely over the next five years.

Wow! Drinking nicely. Popped and poured at room temp and it was great from the first sip. Nice, dark opaque in the glass and fruit forward but more complex. Starting to smooth out - really looking forward to the next few years (especially since I can't wait and hold them for another 10 years - which they can do).
In just a few months this smoothed out even more, losing most of its harsh edges while retaining its complexities. It's been fun to experience this wine as it has aged in the bottle. Dark & opaque in the glass, obvious Syrah fruit on the nose, and full-bodied, slightly tannic on the palate. Stems up!

Declining but still has great tobacco and blue fruit notes.
