Drinking perfectly. Would never have pegged this for CA blind, especially not at the open. A little austere before it breathed, solid core of tart black cherry and leather. Awesome value.

PnP. This needed time in the glass to blow off some funk that initially made me think it was fading fast. Fruit is fading to reveal tons of savory aspects. I would say drink in the next 1-3 years.
Update - night 2 after VinVac - drink soon and all in one night.

This bottle showed very well. A wine that is mature but not dying. So much mushroom, soy, wet moss, rainy pine forest, but underneath I still get plenty of dark currant fruit. Fresh and bright, tannins still drying, the fruit (dark berry, plum compote) has faded but still sticks around. The soy, mushroom, wet leaves, chewing tobacco and violets really take the lead though. Day two was even more expressive. On the downward trend, but I really liked this bottle.

We had opened another wine to drink with dinner, but it was too Bretty, so we opened this to salvage the wine segment of dinner. It did not disappoint. It was open for business even without a decant. Syrah is listed as 30% of the wine, but it is the dominant grape, fragrant and fruity. This proved a worthy accompaniment to our cowboy steaks and heirloom tomato salad. Three cheers for John and Kim Cabot.

Another fine effort. Starts with strong if not harsh Syrah notes that mellow with some time in glass, when warmth of Cabernet and softness of Merlot emerges. Deep red fruit, some oak and spice, paired well with steak. Tannins remaining suggest some life left in this one.
