  Based upon the prior Celler Tracker reviews, I had a back-up bottle ready in the wings. A somewhat pleasant surprise. The color showed a bit of age. The nose seemed off for the first 60 minutes of decanting but those loamy and mildewy gasses finally blew off and fruit and flowers started to break through. After 90 minutes, the palate became expressive with ripe black cherry and cherry fruits with dried herbs and touches of Oak. In the end, better than perfectly drinkable. While this bottle probably would have shown this well another 4 years from now, I doubt it would improve.

  Based on the comments of others I had expected a bad wine. Thankfully I was wrong. While not the best example of a 1er Cru Burgundy this Burgundy showed many of the best characteristics although a little past its best perhaps, the cork was quite wet probably allowing for a little too much oxygen to enter. I had bought this as a tourist from a wine shop near our hotel in Paris. Not the preferred method of buying wine.
