  200 Burgundy Grand Crus from vintage 2000, 4-day blind tasting (Singapore): Pirate bottle. Nose of chocolate cake, chef pastry with cupcake, lots of acidity as well to support the ripeness, stays elegant on the palate. No idea what this is, but it is good.

  Huge, massive Pinot more in character with a big Zinfandel. Leathery and large. Notes I've read that this is thin and oxidized must be damaged. This is medium sized for a Syrah!

  From a different source than a badly flawed bottle opened earlier this evening. I can't necessarily call this a flawed bottle, but it certainly was not a very good example of this usually great wine. Unusually funky and astringent, lacking fruit. I'll have to call it bottle variation, and provenance may not have been ideal.
