As for last time, this is just a great claret at its peak. Smoky, cigar box character but with enough fruit still there that it's not falling over yet. Good and integrated.

Had a case of 12, 6 left now, wish I had waited. In a great place, forget the idea that 2004 was a poor year, just choose the right chateau and wait! Cant see this getting better but will stay at this level for, I guess, 8 years. Just what claret is supposed to be.

Has evolved and is really hitting its stride now. More energy vs last bottle. Tannins now completely melted into a fine powder. Nose is classic St Julien dominated by cigarr-box/cedar. Palate has some lovely sweet cassis, tobacco and pencilshave. A surprisingly spicy finish with good length. Lagrange is still hallmark Bordeaux for us and clearly did better than many in this vintage. Probably at peak now.

Had better vintages of this one in the glass. A little flat, cherry-dominated wine that runs a little short at the end. Not bad but far away from good vintages...needs a lot of air...89-90

(Château Lagrange (St. Julien)) Nice roasted fruit, herbal, tobacco and black fruit nose; tasty, espresso, tart black fruit and mineral palate; medium-plus finish

On top form at the moment for my taste (I tend to prefer older and softer). Great red fruits and very very easy to enjoy
