  • Dr. Krupp recommended drinking thus by the end of 2018. I didn't get around to that until now. Very enjoyable bottle with big, jammy, dark fruit and cocoa. Tannins fully resolved.

  • Deep ruby color, nose of black liquorice, bing cherry, bit heavy on the tannins which keeps the score from going higher for me but this is a balanced, well-done wine.

  • I can't figure this Krupp Merlot out. Sometimes I drink it and love it. Other times, it leaves me feeling underwhelmed. This 2006 vintage has lovely fruit and good balance, but the undercurrent of the wine seemed to have an age to it that wasn't deserved. Flavors of cocoa, graphite and darker berries. But, the fruit didn't seem ebullient enough, almost as if the wine couldn't make up its mind to be forward and mouthwatering, or tight. I have one bottle left and will anxiously try it soon, but I think there are better efforts out there. I'll stick to Krupp's other varietals.

  • Jammy and very big fruit, blackberrys and cassis. Long finish that spiked a bit of pepper and some light citrus notes.

  • Aromas of plump berries and perfectly ripe plums introduce the nose. Notes of black stone, acai berry, blueberry, and freshly scraped vanilla seeds also make an appearance.

This is an eye opener! The extreme concentration and depth of this wine is truly incredible. Juicy and plump, this wine is loaded with flavors of plum and forest berries, while softer notes of forest floor and birch bark build its dimension. Coffee beans, fennel, dill, and peppercorns show in the background, and a very subtle hint of wildflowers appears toward the end. This is a stunning example of Merlot at its best.
