a real pleasant floral bouquet, this is a mouthwatering, mineral-driven, lean Cote Rotie, dry and void of any fruit, but intense and earthy, a take on syrah intended to highlight the soils where it came from

Floral, violet, lilac, raspberry, blueberry mixed fruits in the nose; rosemary, cured meat, juniper, white pepper in the nose; dry medium tannins, lower acidity, with a tangy tart finish. Very good, very aromatic, balanced and complex.

Pretty dense, dark, roasty, meaty and ripe, yet not out of control. With aromas of roasted dark fruits, coffee, mint and black pepper. Silky, concentrated and focused dark red fruit, that is coiled but has lightness. At once deep and dense and light. Also lots of tannin that seems both dark, massive and yet soft. This is really alive with lots of character and personality.

Quite austere. A bit of meat, flowers; very tannic. This is sufficiently ungiving over 6+ hours in a decanter that I wonder if this will ever be worthwhile. However, I only have one more, so I'm willing to bet that in ~10 years this will be much better.
