  Tasted double blind. When revealed, this was a big surprise as I would have sought it to be much younger. The highlight is the multi-facetted nose with so many layers. On the palate it is a bit less complex and not perfectly round and harmonious. Overall, a good but for my taste slightly too masculine wine. I guess this will need another 10 or more years to mellow, it certainly has the fruit and structure to do so. 91/92 points.
  
  TN: Dark fruits, cola, herbs, gamey notes, smoke and some traces of black truffles on the nose. Very intense, well defined and quite harmonious. Same aromas with more animalistic notes and lots of cherries on the palate which shows a lot of tension, a firm structure with not yet fully rounded tannins and a high not perfectly integrated acidity. Some upside on the structure and texture (maybe more air would have helped) but overall quite good.
  
  Decanting: Opened 24 hours before but my guess is, it would have needed a solid 2-4 hours decant.

  Tried over a two day period. Nice wine with still a few tannons on the tail end but this mature Corton Renards is ready to go and likely hold for 5-10 more years. Very nice earthy and floral nose and the wine seems well preserved for it's 21 years. Sweet finish and the tail end with pure but not rustic flavors of red earthy undertones. I am picking up some leather and meat nuances when drinking this. This is a medium body wine with good complexity but in my view does not have the weight or depth of a Grand Cru. This wine strikes me more a a good Premier cru from a slightly warm vintage. This might improve slightly in the future but is drinking well now to enjoy and held up good on the 2nd day after being gassed. A very nice but not Excellent mature red burgundy to savor today. Score = 91+
