Vinetasters: Mt. Veeder (Park Ridge, IL): From half-bottle. Insert Senator Bentsen-style quote about Port here. Sweet and cloying, with the spirit not quite properly proportioned. Kind of like thinning out grape juice with spirit. Truth be told, I'm surprised that it's even allowed to call this Port. Would have hoped the Portuguese were on top of this.

($45) Napa-Noma Trip: Sweet on the nose, much less oxidized than a typical port, to which Sally mentioned this was done in a ruby style. Sweet attack with lovely blackberry and black cherry fruit. Chocolate. Very tasty.
