Then the nose became more earthy for a while, although the strawberry-like fruit won out. Couldn't spot the oak until 2 hours later. Lightish body, a bit mean, weedy, acidic, rough and lacking fruit. Nosed better than it tasted. Ordinary.

  I thought this bottle was corked, but everyone else at the table did not agree. A sweet, flabby wine that was a dissapointment. I have had good luck with cheap 2001 riojas, but this is not one of them. Drinkable, but that's about it.

  My first tempranillo so no biases or expectations of the varietal. Very opaque, deep ruby, medium bodied and kinda fruitier than I expected. Wasn't overly chewy and defintely not harsh or acidic. Oddly reminded me of the first time I tried a Bardolino cause it is a change-up to the usual noble varietals. Black fruit dominated and it had strong spice elements. Had a fruity/spicy finish that made you wanna keep the glass flowing.
